From the text...'SAF saw the need to develop a guide for developing such a plan, but we knew we could not do this work on our own. We gathered together important partners – including the Communities Committee (www.communitiescommittee.org), National Association of counties (www.naco.org), National Association of State Foresters (www.stateforesters.org), and Western Governors' Association (www.westgov.org) – and developed a brochure on how to craft a plan. So far, our efforts have been extremely successful. Brochures have been sent all over the country, including to most of the counties in the nation. Thousands more people have downloaded the document from our website (www.safnet.org). People who have never thought about these issues have a guide, prepared by SAF, that can help them address issues important to them. Foresters are working with community leaders to develop plans that highlight the role of forest management in reducing the risk of catastrophic wildfire.' © by the Society of American Foresters.
