From the summary ... 'In 1961 a hurricane struck British Honduras, causing severe damage to the forests. Steps were taken to protect the important watershed of the Maya Mountains massif from the devastating fires which were anticipated. The strategy of concentrating protection around the perimeter rather than within the area proved justified, but, as a result of experience in 1962-64, alterations have now been made in equipment and tactics. It was not found that fires started more readily or spread more rapidly as a result of hurricane damage, but the difficulty of controlling them was greatly increased.'
