In summary, I am sympathetic with the concerns of fire management over the need for additional training of fire management practitioners, but I reject the suggested solution. The options to a new curriculum have not been adequately considered, and the costs of the employment, academic and institutional problems caused by the development of such a curriculum have not been adequately compared with the assumed benefits. © Society of American Foresters, Bethesda, MD.
