Although wind is erratic and ethereal in character, it is a purely physical phenomenon, and as such follows definite physical laws. This report on observations of wind velocity in pine, brush, and grass cover types is offered to show that rather simple relations exist between the velocities at different heights. Figures and equations descriptive of the phenomenon are presented as an aid to the understanding of local wind movement in forested country.© Society of American Foresters, Bethesda, MD.
