Two computer programs for testing alternative fire prescriptions are presented. Program RXBUILD creates a fire occurrence and a fire weather, danger, and manning class file for use by the second program. Program RXFIRES reads user fire selection criteria are tested against the prescription and classified as wildfires or prescribed fires. Prescribed fires are monitored on successive days until they exceed the test prescription, are extinguished by excessive precipitation, or burn into the post-season. Output includes a yearly summary of prescribed and wildfires by size class, a detailed case history of each prescribed fire, and a fire load summary.
