To assess the impacts of grazing by caribou (Rangifer tardus granti), permanent range transects were established by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in 1981. These transects were located in the winter range of WACH, primarily in the Buckland River valley of the Seward Peninsula Alaska. In 1995 and 1996, eighteen transects were located and reassessed, and an additional seven transects added, creating a total of 25 permanent transects . In 1995 and 1996 an additional 10 unburned permanent plots in the Buckland and Ulukluk Creek subregions were added. The results presented here include all unburned plots (1995/96 through 2012/13) as well as separate analyses of just Buckland plots (1981-2012/13). Data previously presented to the WACH Working group was for the 25 Buckland plots only; this is the first combined analysis of all 35 unburned plots.
