Contains 910 sets of forest fire ecology questions mailed to the authors by 302 land managers and scientists throughout the western United States and Canada. Questions were submitted in response to a survey of important research needs for understanding the effects of fire and fire exclusion in western coniferous forest ecosystems. The questions cover the entire spectrum of environmental parameters affecting and affected by fire, and present, collectively, a compendium of candidly expressed research needs. A geographical source code and a topical keyword index permit selective searching of the question sets.
