Under limited supervision, this position provides a department-wide approach to diverse, complex, and interrelated wildland fire coordination and resilience needs at a professional level. The position coordinates the department’s approach to wildland fire that supports all chartered land uses and open space purposes, works across multiple programs and divisions within the department, as well as with multiple departments within the city, engages neighborhood communities in Boulder, and regional agencies and partners. The position will request, review, and integrate work from diverse, professional staff and help the department maintain an effective approach to one of the greatest risks facing the city. The position develops and maintains a wildland fire program, including elements and procedures that require broad and highly specialized expert strategies and resolution of high-profile issues.
