Job: Assessment Program Manager (Outreach Notice) - US Forest Service - Washington, DC


The US Forest Service Research & Development anticipates advertising a permanent position soon to provide national leadership for the agency’s resource assessment efforts, open to applicants from within and outside the Federal Government. Individuals interested in being notified when the position is open for application should respond by following directions on the attached outreach response form. The successful candidate will support comprehensive, national level assessment activities and international reporting, specifically including but not limited to the Forest and Rangeland Renewable Resources Planning Act (RPA) Assessment. Responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and documenting work that is national in scope, meets mandatory reporting requirements, and is focused on describing current conditions and future trends in the nation’s forests and rangelands.

This position is located on the Inventory, Monitoring, and Assessment Research Staff (IMAR), within the Office of the Deputy Chief for Research and Development in the Forest Service’s national headquarters. We are a small, deeply committed team providing national leadership for the Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) program, the Forest Sustainability Assessment program, RPA Assessment research, and remote sensing and geospatial analysis research.
