Job Duties:

• Performs general wildlife area infrastructure and habitat restoration maintenance tasks.
• Maintains/repairs the headquarters facility, compost facility, irrigation system, equipment, fences, roads, trailheads, trails, signs, and gates.
• Posts signs for public information and recreational use.
• Safely operates ATVs, tractors, mowers, chainsaws, and basic power and hand tools.
• Performs regular vehicle maintenance, services, and minor vehicle repairs.
• Fabricates parts using arc welders and cutting torches.
• Assists with the implementation of habitat restoration projects including forest thinning and prescribed burning.
• Conducts weed control activities and maintains the application equipment.
• Uses backpack sprayers to apply herbicide, as well as mechanical means to remove weeds.
• Uses Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques to recommend and assist with proper weed control activities.
• Reads/understands herbicide labels and mixes - uses and stores herbicides properly.
• Interacts with hunters and fishermen and other recreational users about the wildlife areas, wildlife issues or sightings.
