ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct routine preserve management work such as removal of invasive species, grassland management, ecological monitoring, fence construction and repair, and other related stewardship activities.
- Assists with land management and restoration planning.
- Ensures personal safety and safety of crew by following all safety procedures mandated by state/federal law and TNC policies.
- Tracks and records work progress including invasive species, thinning, and Rx fire treatments.
- Tracks and manages restoration objectives, budget and schedule.
- Builds, cultivates, and maintains relationships with landowners and key partners including public agencies and non-profit organizations.
- Assists with planning and implementation of prescribed fire.
- Assist with fire line construction, implementation of prescribed burns and mop-up activities. Maintain equipment and tools used on prescribed burns.
- Operate fire equipment, if qualified, including ignition devices, 4WD trucks, ATV’s, UTV’s, portable pumps, pump engines, port-a-tanks, tractors, backpack blowers, brush cutters, chain saws, hand tools, and GPS units.
- Perform fire preparations, including tractor mowing, tree cutting, chainsaw work, raking, handline construction, and boundary delineation.
- Drives 4WD truck and UTV with crew and supplies on remote, backcountry roads.
