The Francis Marion and Sumter National Forests (FM&S), in South Carolina, will soon advertise a Forestry Technician position on the Andrew Pickens Ranger District in Mountain Rest, South Carolina. This position is a federal government job. The primary timber responsibilities are to prepare timber harvest units (mark, cruise, etc), and inspect logging operations. The primary recreation responsibilities are to maintain recreation areas and trails through contracts, force account labor and volunteers. Examples of other work expected of the incumbent include, but are not limited to, helping with prescribed burning, fish stocking, and road maintenance (clearing fallen trees, checking culverts, etc).
