Job: Postdoctoral Fellow - University of Idaho College of Natural Resources - Forest, Rangeland, & Fire Sciences

A one-year postdoctoral position, with the possibility of extension up to four years depending on funding and performance evaluation, is available to join an interdisciplinary research teaching effort focused on object oriented remote sensing mapping of forest structure, with an emphasis on fuel mapping for wildfire monitoring and on burned area reporting at a variety of scales. The hiring opportunity is available as NASA and USDA Forest Service Funding. The objective of the investigation is to develop an object-based approach to aggregate object-based fuel structures at nested spatial scales, identifying meaningful objects from ground, surface, and understory fuel elements, to trees to stands to management units comprising the land base, integrating active (LiDAR) and passive (optical) remote sensing data. The successful candidate will be based in the department of Forest, Rangeland and Fire Sciences at the University of Idaho, in Moscow, Idaho.
