The Preserve Manager position is located at the Conservancy’s Platte River Prairies Preserve, in a rural part of central Nebraska near Wood River, NE.The Preserve Manager performs and participates in preserve operations including the maintenance, management, development and coordination of conservation programs.  The Preserve Manager will work closely with Conservancy staff, partners, cooperating scientists, students, landowners and lessees.  The Preserve Manager will lead preserve, maintenance and outreach activities including fence repair, windmill repair, tree removal, weed control, and prescribed fire burn crews.  Public outreach, including leading tours and presenting information at public meetings may also be required. This full-time position may require irregular hours and will include extensive outdoor physical labor under adverse conditions.  This position is supervised by the Nebraska Director of Conservation and does supervise other staff. It may also supervise contractors, temporary work crews and volunteers.  Preserve Manager is part of the Land Management Team for the Nebraska Chapter and works closely with other stewardship staff and may travel to other preserves to assist with land management activities.
