Welcome to the Northern Rockies Fire Portal

The Northern Rockies Portal provides information about fire science and technology relevant to northern Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, and northwestern Wyoming. Our goal is to provide "one-stop shopping" for resource managers, decision makers, scientists, students, and communities who want access to the results of efforts to understand and manage fire and fuels on lands in the Northern Rockies.

FRAMES is part of the Wildland Fire Science Partnership (WFSP). The WFSP integrates the scientific expertise, technological capability, and on-the-ground experience from the University of Montana, the University of Idaho, and the U.S. Forest Service's Rocky Mountain Research Station under a common mission. The WFSP utilizes each partner's unique strengths in a combined effort to produce more effective and far-reaching research and to develop and deliver new tools and knowledge.

NRFSN

Check out the Northern Rockies Fire Science Network (NRFSN): the NRFSN seeks to enhance communication between managers and scientists about fire management issues and research products. The NRFSN will facilitate interactions between managers and scientists; identify fire and fuel research needs; and improve access to knowledge and tools to serve those needs. Start-up funding for the NRFSN has been provided by the Joint Fire Science Program.
