Workshop Training

Fuel Assessment Workshop

From March 2006 through June 2007, the National Interagency Fuels, Fire, and Vegetation Technology Transfer (NIFTT) traveled around the U.S. conducting three-day workshops with the goal of training managers in fuel assessment planning techniques using ArcGIS spatial application tools. NIFTT is now updating the course, titled Basic Integrated Fuels Planning Using LANDFIRE Data, based on the feedback provided and is scheduled to start offering the course again in 2009. Please check back for details as they become available.

NIFTT Technical Assistance - Short Courses

Students getting hands on experience

NIFTT Short Courses

NIFTT can provide customized short courses on a variety of subjects related to fuels, wildland fire, and LANDFIRE spatial assessments using tools developed by NIFTT as well as a variety of other related tools.

For example, NIFTT instructors taught a one day course at the Technical Fire Management class in Bothell, Washington, October 10th, 2007. Students learned about the LANDFIRE Project and LANDFIRE data, and reviewed FRCC concepts. Students also had the opportunity to work through a hands-on exercise using the FRCC Mapping Tool. In addition, instructors provided a demonstration of the Fire Behavior Assessment Tool.

If you are interested in having NIFTT provide a Short Course in your area, please contact the helpdesk to discuss potential topics and schedules at: helpdesk@niftt.gov.
